In 1969, Rusty Preisendorfer was a local San Diego surfer and La Jolla High student when he shaped his first surfboard. Skip forward 24 years and he had shaped his way to owning one of the most dominant surfing industry brands in the world. In 1993 his vision was to expand his brand into other products, including clothing. The “R-dot” clothing line was launched. Soon his business outgrew its small space and needed more room. Rusty’s boards are ridden and appreciated by many of the top 20 pro surfers in the world. In 2008, Rusty was named the Shaper of the Year by Surfing Magazine.
