#1 imageSan Diego tops a recent Forbes list of the best places to launch a start-up small business.  Two other California cities – San Francisco (#6) and San Jose (#12) – also made the list, based on a survey of the 50 most populous U.S. cities.

The national magazine evaluated 27 million businesses on the basis of those in high-growth industries, their concentration, the percentage that accept credit cards, those with Facebook pages/websites and those with online reviews.

According to Susan Lamping, vice president of community lending for nonprofit CDC Small Business Finance in San Diego, start-up small businesses looking for capital can take advantage of several financing vehicles, including SBA microloans and Community Advantage loans.
