For over 35 years, Kurt Chilcott has been dedicated to economic development and creating access to responsible and affordable capital for ALL small businesses. Chilcott is driven to change as many lives as possible through mission-based lending and advocacy.

As CEO and President of CDC Small Business Finance (CDC), Chilcott develops the vison and strategy for the organization. For over 20 years, he has been the steward ensuring that the company is dynamic and evolves based on the diverse needs of small business owners. Chilcott is grateful to lead a smart, innovative and passionate management team who is his partner in everything from pioneering new products to advancing strategic initiatives to raising capital. Under Chilcott’s leadership, CDC Small Business Finance has provided over $20.7 billion in financing to more than 12,000 small businesses, creating and preserving over 209,000 jobs.

At the heart of Chilcott’s success is his attention to culture. Chilcott has made culture a top priority to ensure both employee well-being and company success. As a result, the CDC employee tenure rate is nearly twice the national average. Chilcott has focused on infusing the company values – integrity, commitment, teamwork and making a difference into daily life at CDC so that all employees feel valued and inspired while helping small business owners turn their dreams into reality.

Involvement in CDC’s communities, industry and trade associations and national policy efforts are also integral to Chilcott’s commitment to make a difference. Maintaining relationships, serving on boards, being active in the trade groups and providing a voice for entrepreneurs has helped establish CDC as one of the leading mission-based lenders in the nation.

Prior to leading CDC, Chilcott worked for the City of San Diego to help reshape its’ economic development strategy creating one of the first industry cluster based regional economic development strategies in the nation and leading the revitalization of numerous underserved communities throughout San Diego.
